FASE® Binding System Guide

How the system works, dial in your setup, and maximize performance with pro tips and tricks.

The next-generation two-strap snowboard binding

Snowboard bindings have long fallen into two camps: traditional two-strap systems, largely unchanged for decades; and quick-entry options, promising speed and convenience, but often at the expense of weight, board feel, or compatibility with your other snowboard hardware.

FASE® changes that.

The Fast Entry System stays true to the DNA of two-strap bindings, while optimizing them for faster, more efficient entry and exit.

Developed over seven years, refined through countless on-snow prototypes, shaped by thousands of hours of rider feedback, and trusted by Jeremy Jones, Victor de Le Rue, Marissa Krawczak and more, FASE® redefines the two-strap binding without sacrificing what matters most.

How do FASE® bindings work?

FASE® builds on the two-strap design by introducing three key ingredients:
Each component plays a role, but it’s the sum of these parts that makes the process of getting in and out of FASE® bindings so fast and intuitive.

The AutoBack

The AutoBack

The key to the revolutionary FASE Fast Entry System, the AutoBack, allows for hands-free entry into the binding. This intuitive design automatically closes as the boot enters the binding and and opens when you lift your boot out. The AutoBack also folds flat for skating, chairlifts, and storage.

The FastStrap

The FastStrap

An innovative long ankle ladder that remains connected for ultra-fast, one-handed strapping-in. With a classic ratchet design to fine tune ankle strap tension, the FastStrap compliments the AutoBack’s automatic closure system so riders can strap-in faster than ever before.

The Locked-In Toe Strap

The Locked-In Toe Strap

Simply set it and forget it. Designed to remain in position to complement the Fast Entry System. The LSR 2.0 buckle and unique tri-toothed ladder allow you to ‘set it and forget it’ or make easy on-the-fly fit adjustments.

The 2026 Jones Mercury FASE Snowboard Binding Review

How do I get in?

Because FASE® bindings share most of a classic two-strap design, getting in and out will feel natural, only now you have more options at your disposal. Of course, this still includes the way you’ve been doing it for years: by fully unsfastening the straps and placing your foot in the binding, either standing up or seated.

Open mode

When the AutoBack is angled back with the hitch engaged on the pedal and the FastStrap fully open, the binding is ready for entry.

Hint: If snow accumulates, make sure to remove snow from your binding before getting in.

1.

Simply insert your boot into the binding and catch the toe strap. (The AutoBack automatically closes around your boot while the Locked-In Toe Strap remains in place.)

Hint: For easy one-handed fastening, rest your thumb on the buckle, pinky finger on the ladder strap, and pinch together. The buckle will track straight into the ladder.

2.

Buckle down only the FastStrap (ankle strap). (Since the ankle ladder is already engaged, you only need one hand to complete!)

How do I get out?

Ride mode

With the AutoBack closed around your boot, and the FastStrap securely buckled you’re ready to charge in any terrain or snow condition.

Hint: Think of the motion like how you’d get out of your shoes, as you bend your knee and lift your heel, the foot will naturally slide out.

Tips & advice

First ride of the season

The Locked-In Toe Strap is built to stay in place. Before your first ride, open it wide, slide your boot in, set the right tension, and leave it as is for the season.

Lifts and storage

The FastStrap

In situations where you need to remove the FastStrap fully, simply use a little more force when unfastening the ratchet, and it will slide over the stopper and come unfastened.

Steep strapping in

For strapping in on a slope, a bit of tactics goes a long way. Cut a small platform into the snow with your heel edge to balance on, while strapping in facing downhill.

Steep unstrapping

For unstrapping on a slope, it’s easier to face uphill, balancing on your toe edge. That way, your leg follows a more natural path when stepping out.

Challenging terrain

For more challenging terrain and conditions (think deep powder, steep or icy slopes, and exposed spots in the backcountry), the old-fashioned way may still be your preferred approach. It’s always possible to fully unstrap both bindings and place your boot in the binding without utilising the Fast Entry System.

Quick tip: Remember, both the Locked-In toe straps and FastStrap ankle straps can open fully - especially useful if you ever find yourself in a tight spot and need to unfasten completely.

Finding flow

Once you’ve got the motions dialed, you can start thinking outside the box. FASE® bindings aren’t just about saving time; they’ll help you unlock a new rhythm on the mountain.

You can eliminate the stop-start nature of fastening your bindings across the mountain. Ride off the chairlift, strap your back foot in, and drop into the start of your run without breaking your flow. Jump back on the lift without slowing down to fix loose straps. Skate cat tracks or flat zones and avoid killing your momentum (by having to stop and strap in) before the slope begins.

When you’re holding your gear - a camera, for example, or an axe if you’re in the backcountry - the FastStraps free up a hand while you’re strapping in.
The benefits aren’t just measured in seconds saved, but by bridging the divide between getting ready to ride and dropping in.

Quick Tip: When strapping in on the move, try to keep your eyeline fixed ahead of you to remain balanced and continue tracking on your line.

Unlock terrain

The beauty of two-strap bindings lies in their versatility and diversity. The Jones binding collection has been developed to deliver the best possible experience for all rider types, from surf slashers to shralpinists. FASE® doesn’t change this. It builds on it.

Whichever board you mount them on, however you choose to set them up, and whatever terrain you drop into, your Jones FASE® bindings deliver the same trusted performance, now fully optimized.

Frequently asked questions

Is the FASE Fast Entry System trusted by Jones Pro Riders?

Yes! Riders like Jeremy Jones, Victor de Le Rue, Marissa Krawczak, Harry Kearney, and Garrett Warnick rely on the FASE Fast Entry System to push performance every day. Last season, Victor de Le Rue won the Freeride World Tour and Harry Kearney won the Mt. Baker Legendary Banked Slalom on their Mercury FASE bindings.

Is it really compatible with any brand of snowboard boots?

Absolutely! The FASE Fast Entry System works seamlessly with all snowboard boots on the market.

Does the FASE Fast Entry System work in deep powder?

Absolutely. Victor de Le Rue and Jeremy Jones trust it every day in all conditions. Obviously in deeper snow, it’s important to take a moment to remove snow from your bindings before getting ready to strap-in, as the FASE Fast Entry System is mountain-tested and deep snow is not a problem. If needed, you can also strap in just like a traditional two-strap binding.

Does the FASE Fast Entry System work in steep terrain?

Yes. The system is designed to perform in every condition and on any terrain. In the rare case (less than 1% of situations) where the terrain makes entry tricky, you can simply unstrap both straps and strap in just like a traditional binding.

Is the FASE Fast Entry System safe?

The FASE Fast Entry System is incredibly safe. It is as secure and safe as existing two-strap binding models and has undergone thousands of hours of on-snow testing and is backed by a lifetime warranty.

Is the FASE Fast Entry System durable?

Yes, it’s built to withstand all terrain and conditions! The minimal mechanism has been rigorously tested for over seven years and is trusted by pro riders. Plus, the system comes with a lifetime* warranty.

How much does it weigh?

The FASE Fast Entry System is seamlessly integrated into the Jones Mercury Binding, keeping the weight fully comparable to other high-end two-strap models. The system is extremely minimalistic and weighs 40 g (1.4 oz). The Jones Mercury FASE in size Medium weighs 895 g (31.6 oz), putting it right in line with traditional bindings on the market.

Do I really only need to use one hand to strap-in?

Absolutely! Thanks to our specially designed extra-long FastStrap ladder, which remains attached, strapping in with one hand is effortless for every rider.

Do I need to press any levers to get out?

No, just open the straps and remove your boot as you normally would. We’ve streamlined the process, eliminating unnecessary steps and keeping things simple—no levers required.

Can I snap (fold) my highback onto the heel cup?

Yes, it’s designed for that! The highback FWL block and pedal are specifically designed to snap in and out, allowing you to fold the highback flat for chairlifts, skating, and easy storage. You can also enter the binding without snapping it manually, as it will auto-snap once your boots are in.

Does it add volume to the binding? Is the heelcup thicker?

No. The system is extremely minimalistic and does not add any noticeable size. The Jones Mercury FASE in size Medium has a length of 294 mm, which is fully comparable to any traditional binding and identical to the Jones Mercury without the FASE System.

Will the system make the binding feel loose?

Not at all. The FASE System keeps your boot locked in with the same trusted security as a traditional two-strap binding. Riders often say it feels even more snug and connected, giving them extra confidence on every run.
